Tükenmişlik A response to chronic work stress characterised by emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation and a reduced sense of personal accomplishment.
Deputy principal
Müdür yardımcısı An administrator who assists the principal with specific areas such as timetabling, student affairs or facilities.
Distributed leadership
Dağıtımcı liderlik A view of leadership as a practice spread across many people in a school, including teachers, rather than the property of the principal alone.
District Directorate of National Education
İlçe millî eğitim müdürlüğü The Ministry’s administrative unit at district level, working under the district governor and the provincial directorate.
Education inspector
Eğitim müfettişi A Ministry official who carries out guidance, inspection, review and investigation work in schools and education institutions.
Educational Administration, Supervision, Planning and Economics
Eğitim Yönetimi, Teftişi, Planlaması ve Ekonomisi (EYTPE) The traditional name of the academic field and of graduate programmes in Turkish universities that correspond to educational administration, leadership and policy elsewhere.
Guidance (in supervision)
Rehberlik In the context of supervision, the advisory and supportive side of an inspector’s or principal’s work, as opposed to evaluation and investigation.
Inspection
Teftiş The examination of a school’s or a staff member’s work against legal rules and standards, usually by an external official.
Instructional leadership
Öğretimsel liderlik Leadership focused directly on teaching, the curriculum and student learning, including setting academic goals, supervising instruction and building a positive learning climate.
